Category Image Majority of Americans Find Presidential Debates Boring

It seems that I am not the only one in America that finds these endless and hopelessly early presidential wannabe debates boring and frankly useless.

If you think about it, the Democrats and Republicans have six or more candidates (four of which no one outside their home state has heard of) or so on stage and each gets only a few minutes to explain their entire world outlook.  In addition, the debates are usually moderated by some pompous liberal that has to ask "how the candidate will help women" rather than asking how they will deal with the Iranians.  And unless a candidate makes one of those "made for TV blunders", no one remembers or really cares what was said.

The latest Rasmussen Poll has this to say:

Fifteen percent (15%) of American adults say that Presidential debates are exciting. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 58% say they are boring. Sixty-three percent (63%) of men and 54% of women find the debates boring.

Thirty percent (30%) say that the debates are informative while 50% say they are useless. Older Americans are more likely to find the debates useless than younger adults.

Ratings show that the most recent debate attracted 2.6 million viewers, a very small percentage of the electorate. A Rasmussen Reports analysis suggested that the debates may have little impact and that “only a major gaffe or startling policy pronouncement will break through the news clutter and impact the general public’s view of the race.”
