John Murtha, Defeatistcrat, Pennsylvannia
How does the Democratic Party, now run by Marxist inspired hippies of the 1960s and their offspring think? (Just a hint, Marx opposed Western democratic power, opposed capitalism, and railed against nationalism).
Take a look at what John Murtha said just today:
"Look at all the people that have been displaced, all the [lost] oil production, unemployment, all those type of things," said Rep. John P. Murtha, chairman of House Appropriations defense subcommittee. "We can't win militarily
The Pennsylvania Democrat conceded violence was down dramatically and some normalcy was restored on Iraq's streets, but he said U.S. victory remains unattainable as long as Baghdad fails to pass national-reconciliation laws
Apparently, Murtha, spokesman for the party of defeat, hasn't been reading the papers. But then again, to slander your own country, one doesn't necessarily need to read or be informed.
• Iraqi oil production, though plagued by sabotage and incompetence (though that could be said of Mexico's oil industry), is almost back to pre-war levels of production. Not bad for a country mired in a civil war.
• Actually, Iraqis are returning home. Maybe because the surge is working?
• And isn't reducing the violence winning the battle?
And one other tactic that Murtha and the Defeatistcrats draw from their Marxist playbook is the spreading of doom and gloom and defeat. Does anyone else think the Democrat's message of defeat in this war is similar to Soviet Peace Offensive waged in the 1980s? For those too young to remember, only Ronald Reagan stood in the way of capitulation to the Soviets, as the Democrats, as they are today, were weak kneed and ready to cede Europe to Moscow.
