Cincinnati City Council Member Gets in Cat Fight
For those familiar with Cincinnati, this once great city is a mere shadow of its former self. City Council over the last 30 years has helped to move 200,000 people to the suburbs, chased business after business across the river, increased the welfare roles, increased taxes, allowed violence to escalate to an unacceptable level, and treated rioters as civil rights heroes.
Here is a perfect example of the character of the council:
A Cincinnati city councilwoman running for re-election got into a fight Thursday night with another woman over a boyfriend and asked police officers to keep her name out of their report, police say.
However, Laketa Cole insisted Friday that removing her name from the report was not her idea, saying police were the ones who suggested keeping her anonymous.
"I never asked for that - it was their suggestion," she said of the name removal. "(The officer) indicated to me that they were in the middle of a victims' rights class and that they should keep my name out of it. I don't think they did it because I'm a member of council but because I'm a victim."
Lt. Col. James Whalen, an assistant police chief, said the department stands by its report that Cole, 34, asked that her name be removed. Whitney Fields, 23, the other woman in the fight, was listed as both a victim and suspect, as was Cole, but never was listed as "Jane Doe," Whalen said.
The incident happened about 11:30 p.m. at the home of Cole's boyfriend on Bitteroot Lane in College Hill. Both she and Fields told officers the other punched and scratched her. Both women had scratches on their faces, according to the report.
Neither was charged. Officers gave both referrals for mediation.
Cole said Fields has been stalking her boyfriend - who is Fields' ex-boyfriend - since April, showing up at his work and home, even scratching his car. Police have been involved at least once before and a restraining order was considered, she said.
