Category Image Oil Hits $89 a Barrel

Among the other 1,001 excuses used to hike the price of oil, this week it is the threat of Turkey to invade Kurdish northern Iraq that is being used. The fear of course, is that a Turkish incursion into Iraq might upset oil production and delivery.

Of course the problem is, that Turkey is an American ally, yet Iraq is in our care. Why, the Bush Administration wouldn't send 10,000 U.S. troops on an unannounced military exercise along the Turkish border right at this moment is beyond me.

With American troops along the border, the Turks won't attack, and oil prices stabilize until the next crisis pops up.

To be honest, I just don't get why the Turks think they can invade or threaten a state under American occupation. Just a little show of force would make the Turks back down. The problem is, I'm not sure Bush will react unless it explodes in his face.
